Lightwork, which was released last year, is made up from the wealth of songs the Canadian came up with during the pandemic and the lockdowns.

It was released alongside sister album Nightwork, which contains a bunch of B-sides and outtakes.

Although often billed as a prog-metaller, Townsend continues to be hard to pigeon-hole.

The singer-guitarist draws on a huge range of influences and refuses to be constrained by clichéd boundaries between genres.

He’s recorded and toured under various banners over the years, including Devin Townsend Project and The Devin Townsend Band, as well as a solo artist.
